90% of Terra Community Rejects Do Kwon's Luna Fork Proposal
The Terra community has overwhelmingly rejected Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon's proposal to hard fork the Luna blockchain in a preliminary vote. According to initial results from an online poll, a staggering 90% of participants are against Do Kwon's proposal to fork Luna and create a new, parallel version of the Terra blockchain.
What's happening? After the recent collapse of TerraUSD (UST) and LUNA, Do Kwon proposed a hard fork as a method to revive the Terra network. His updated 'Revival Plan V2' aimed to distribute LUNA tokens to users of the existing Terra blockchain (those holding or staking LUNA), residual UST holders, and selected development teams. However, the community's response has been resoundingly negative.
As of 6:45 a.m. ET on Tuesday, the poll showed strong opposition, with over 1,000 votes registered. The Agora forum, where Do Kwon initially presented his revival plan, hosted the preliminary poll revealing this widespread dissent.
Do Kwon, CEO of Terraform Labs, is attempting to put his plan to revive Terra to a formal vote following last week's dramatic collapse. However, this preliminary vote suggests an uphill battle. One validator, representing 1.49% of the vote, has voiced concerns that the proposal is being unduly pushed.
While approximately 90% of the Terra community is resisting the fork, the formal validator vote is still underway. Stay tuned for updates as the situation unfolds.
