The Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), the mega-popular NFT collection, was targeted in a hacking attack via Instagram this week. Hackers made away with about $3 million worth of some of the world's most popular nonfungible tokens after gaining access to the Instagram account belonging to Yuga Labs, the collective behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs. Approximately USD$3 million worth was stolen in the attack.

According to the BAYC developers, a hacker took over the official Instagram account, baiting members with phony messages claiming they would receive free tokens if they connected their wallets.

The project’s official BAYC, run by the cryptocurrency company Yuga Labs, revealed what had happened on Twitter early Monday morning, warning community members to steer clear of the phishing attempts.
