China Initiates CBDC Digital Yuan Pilot Trials on App Stores: What You Need to Know

China is forging ahead with its digital yuan, the world's first major economy central bank digital currency (CBDC), by initiating pilot trials directly on app stores. According to a recent tweet by the local news outlet BlockBeats, the digital currency research institute of PBoC released the “e-CNY (Pilot Version)” app – a mobile wallet. Now, Android and Apple users in 10 Chinese cities can now download a pilot version of the country’s digital yuan wallet app directly from the iOS and Android app stores.
