OpenSea Discord Hacked AGAIN! Fake YouTube Partnership Used in NFT Scam
Nonfungible token (NFT) marketplace OpenSea has suffered another security breach, this time affecting its main Discord channel. This incident follows Amidst the Coinbase’s NFT marketplace’s failed launch, tweets about how the discord channel of OpenSea was hacked began surfacing.
Early Friday morning, the OpenSea Discord server was compromised. Scammers hacked the official Discord server of popular NFT marketplace OpenSea, sending a bot message that tricked users into visiting a fake website.
Hackers posted fake Youtube partnership announcements, directing OpenSea community members to a phishing website. These false claims about a partnership with YouTube were designed to trick NFT connoisseurs into giving up their valuable assets.
OpenSea confirmed that its Discord server has been infiltrated. OpenSea\'s Discord channel has been hacked, and the NFT marketplace is warning users to avoid clicking on any links. The Ethereum-based NFT marketplace confirmed that their Discord server had been compromised a few hours ago. The same was verified by OpenSea recorded the compromise of its Discord server as hackers post an NFT pass in false collaboration with YouTube.
A series of posts from a compromised OpenSea Discord server bot directed users to mint a "YouTube" NFT pass. It comes after a bot posted a message that falsely claimed Opensea Hacked Again!
Six wallets were affected, but the loss was minimal. Hackers used a fake YouTube link to lure in victims. OpenSea has fallen victim to another security breach, but this time it was the project’s main Discord channel.
