Ripple Donates $1 Million in XRP for Turkey and Syria Earthquake Relief

In the wake of the devastating earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria in early February, with a 7.8-magnitude earthquake occurring on February 6th, the global community has rallied to provide support. Leading the charge in the crypto space, Blockchain firm Ripple contributed $1 million in XRP tokens to aid earthquake victims in Turkey and Syria, as shared via Twitter.

On February 15th, the company announced relief funding paid in native XRP, stating, “We are committing $1 million in XRP to support NGOs providing earthquake relief in Turkey and Syria.” This commitment highlights Ripple's dedication to using its resources for humanitarian causes.

Ripple, the United States-based crypto solutions company and cross-border payment firm, has joined the bandwagon of entities making donations to reduce the impact of the disaster. Their donation will directly support relief efforts coordinated by NGOs working on the ground.

The commitment of $1 million in XRP by Ripple to help NGOs was made public on February 15th. The fintech firm said that it was directly supporting these organizations to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.

In addition to the initial donation, Ripple will donate $250,000 in XRP and match all crypto donations 2:1 up to $750,000 to further aid those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. Four NGOs will benefit from this initiative, maximizing the impact of their generous contribution. Ripple’s action demonstrates the potential of cryptocurrency to facilitate rapid and transparent aid delivery in times of crisis.
